Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

Mockingjay, the third and final installment in the Hunger Games trilogy is superb! The reader mourns the losses (I cried in spots), rallies for a happy ending, but is it possible to actually have an ending with all the tragedy? Wonderfully written, full of twists and surprises. Sorry to see this great series come to an end! 

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

The second book in the Hunger Games trilogy, Catching Fire, is just as captivating as the first installment. Filled with sadness, tenderness and horrors; Catching Fire is a compelling read full of both loveable and despicable characters. The reader is fully enveloped in the chaotic, oppressive worl of Panem and hopes for the best for our favorites and death for the adversaries. A must read series! 

Delirium by Lauren Oliver

I really enjoyed Delirium and am eagerly anticipating the second book in the series. A definite page turner, I really was not sure what to expect at the end of Delirium and was surprised by the turn of events. Delirium is a well written, addictive new series. A must read for dystopia fans!

Be Witched by HP Mallory

Let me start by saying I can never get enough of the amazing tales spun by HP Mallory. I go back and forth with each new release as to what my favorite series is...Dulcie or Jolie? The is a novella from Rand's perspective. I really enjoyed this novella and have re-read this installment several times. Anxiously awaiting the Sinjin novella so we the readers can get inside of his mysterious head! (hint, hint HP) 

Kissed by an Angel Trilogy by Elizabeth Chandler

The Kissed by and Angel trilogy started a little slow, but quickly picked up momentum. Each book has offered surprising twists that kept me guessing. Elizabeth Chandler introduced characters that were likeable and very endearing. By the end of the first book I was hooked and tore through the next two with speed. I am very much looking forward to Everlasting, the fourth book which will be out soon!

The Leftovers by Tom Perrotta

I really liked the premise of The Leftovers. A rapture like event, the lives of those 'left behind'. I have to say that I feel let down by this read. I was looking for some insight, or clarity. I enjoy Tom Perrotta's work, and feel like this was lacking a special something. A different ending may have made a difference in my opinion. 

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Hunger Games was absolutely amazing! Panem, formerly the US with its Capitol and 12 districts probably is not far off from what a future civilization could be. The horror of the games and the oppresive lifestyles in the districts on contrast with the lavish Capitol is disdainful, yet intriguing. Chocked full of endearing characters: Katniss, Rue, Peeta and Haymitch. Looking forward to Catching Fire to hopefully see some more of Gale! 

Deceived by Stephanie Nelson

Deceived by Stephanie Nelson was an excellent second installment of the Gwen Sparks series. The problems with Brew strain Gwen and Aiden's relationship, Ian is an ever present menace and Gwen learns more about her abilities with the introduction of Dorian, a mysterious newcomer who is easy to crush on. Anxiously awaiting book three to see what else is in store for Gwen! 

 

Virtue by Amanda Hocking

Virtue was a quick read with a storyline reminiscent of a fairy tale. Virtue was not a favorite of mine by Amanda Hocking, but a good read, all the less. Because this read was a novella I felt as though the story was rushed and could have easily been a full length novel.

Silence by Becca Fitzpatrick

Silence, the third installment of the Hush, Hush series did not grab me in the same way book one and two did. Enough time had lapsed between books two and three that I felt a recount of past events in Silence would help refresh the reader as to the events of book two. Overall I enjoyed this read, but felt something lacking from the prior installments in the series.

Angel Burn by L.A. Weatherly

I enjoyed the premise of Angel Burn. The basis of the story is something entirely different than what I have experienced with angel novels. There was a noticeable chemistry between Willow and Alex that kept me wanting more, although the storyline was a bit predictable in places. Overall a good read that I would recommend.

Great Hexpectations by H.P. Mallory

Absolutely AMAZING!!! I positively loved the third installment of the Dulcie O'Neil series. The chemistry between the characters, the humor, the surprises and the emotion this book invokes is unbelievable. I am anxiously awaiting the next installment, but will now re-read the entire series to relive it all from the beginning- yes it was that good! Way to go H.P., you have outdone yourself with this one! 

The First Husband by Laura Dave

If I could rate this book five stars plus, plus, plus I absolutely would. What can I say? Wow. I could not put The First Husband down. I did not want it to end. I would love to see the characters reappear in a future work (please?). I found all the characters endearing in their own right and relevant and real. It is not every day that a read grabs me as The First Husband did. 

Escape by Barbara Delinsky

I really enjoyed Escape and found that I could not put this book down. The setting was perfect and for a good part of the story I was not sure what the outcome would be. I love to come across a read that is unpredictable and I found that in Escape. I also like how the author took some characters that I didn't particularly care for and developed personalities that I eventually found endearing. A definite must read!

Purpose by Kristie Cook

Purpose by Kristie Cook is a continuation of the Soul Savers series. Seven years have past since the conclusion of book one and Lexi is a shadow of her former self, missing the half that makes her whole. In my opinion, Purpose fell short of the first novel, Promise. As with the first novel, I felt like one of the main antagonists, Vanessa, was very similar to an antagonist in a popular series. I drew the same parallel between Lexi and Tristan in book one. All in all a good read, but would like to see some character development and a deeper plot unfold in the next installment.

Promise by Kristie Cook

Promise by Kristie Cook was referred to me by a good friend who absolutely loved it. I liked Promise, but did not love it. Lexi's attraction to Tristan reminded me of another pair of popular characters who experience a similar dangerous attraction. This similarity actually made their relationship seem less endearing to me. Other elements of the book, such as Lexi's and Tristan's origins and the common enemy was unique and enjoyable. I thought there would be a hidden enemy that did not materialize, which I was glad did not unfold. Overall a good read.

Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas by James Patterson

This has got to be the most heart wrenching, tear jerking reads I have delve into in the longest time- if ever. This is a heart warming, intimate and tragic tale of a woman scorned, a mom's memoirs for her son and one mans mysterious past which will keep the reader guessing until the final chapters. Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas comes complete with a beautiful backdrop of Martha's Vineyard and a set of unforgettable characters. A page turner that will require a box of tissues!

Fate Fixed by Bonnie Wheeler

Fate Fixed is about a girl name Lexie and the boy of her dreams, Torin. The small town Lexie moves to with her mother, sister and step family experiences gruesome fatal attacks and mysterious happenings in the woods in her new hometown. Fate Fixed is a supernatural mystery that will keep the reader guessing as to who is behind the attacks; a rabid animal or something worse...something unthinkable. The protagonist, Lexie is likeable, as is the man of her dreams, Torin. Fate Fixed, book one in the Erris Coven Series, is a good read. Enjoy!
